- The second chain is transmitted by Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“I once saw myself in the Ḥijr, while Quraysh were interrogating me about my Night Journey. They questioned me about various features of Bayt al-Maqdis, yet I could not recall them and I felt a distress the like of which I had never experienced before. Then Allah raised the House before my eyes, and there was nothing they asked me about except that I was able to inform them.
“I also saw myself in the midst of a company of prophets. Moses was there, standing in prayer—a well-built, curly-haired man, as though he were one of the men of Shanūʾah. Jesus son of Mary was also standing in prayer; the person who most resembles him is ʿUrwah ibn Masʿūd al-Thaqafī. And Abraham was standing in prayer, and the one who most resembles him is your companion,”—meaning himself.
“When the time for prayer arrived, I led them. After I had finished, someone said, ‘O Muḥammad, this is Mālik, the keeper of the Fire; greet him.’ I turned toward him, and he was the one who offered me the greeting first.”
