- The Ḥadith of Abū Hurayrah
It is transmitted from him through several chains:
The first chain: Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyab reports from Abū Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“On the night I was taken on the Night Journey I met Moses”—and the Prophet described him—“and there appeared before me a man—so far as I remember he said—whose hair was thick and tousled, as though he were one of the men of Shanūʾah.
“I then met Jesus”—and the Prophet described him—“and he was of medium height, reddish in complexion, as though he had just come out of a bath-house.
“I also saw Abraham—may Allah’s blessings be upon him—and among all his descendants I most resemble him.
“Two vessels were then brought to me, one containing milk and the other wine. I was told, ‘Take whichever you wish.’ I chose the milk and drank it, whereupon it was said, ‘You have been guided to the innate disposition (fiṭrah). Had you chosen the wine, your community would have gone astray.’”
