Next, the report of Anas possesses further lines of transmission. Most of them are brief, while a few are somewhat longer. Let us quote them as well, so that we may examine their chains and thereafter extract the points of benefit and the additional details that meet our criteria.
First chain, through Qatādah from Anas:
‘On the night the Prophet ﷺ was taken on the Night Journey, the Burāq was brought to him—bridled and saddled. It balked at him, whereupon Gabriel said, “Will you do this to Muhammad? No one more honored by Allah has ever ridden you.” The animal then broke out in sweat.’
Recorded by Aḥmad 3/164, al-Tirmidhī 3131, and Ibn Jarīr 15/15. Its chain is sound, and al-Tirmidhī commented: “A ḥasan gharīb hadith.”
And Qatādah also narrates from Anas ibn Mālik that the Prophet ﷺ said:
‘The Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary was raised before me in the seventh heaven. Its fruit was like the great jars of Ḥajar, and its leaves like the ears of elephants. From its trunk issued two visible rivers and two hidden ones. I asked, “O Gabriel, what are these?” He replied, “The hidden ones are in Paradise, whereas the visible ones are the Nile and the Euphrates.”’
