The angel then called out, “Come to prayer, come to success; the prayer has been established.”
He went on to say, “Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great.” A voice replied from beyond the veil, “My servant has spoken the truth; I am the Most Great, I am the Most Great.”
The angel concluded, “There is no deity but Allah.” The voice from beyond the veil answered, “My servant has spoken the truth; there is no deity but Me.”
The angel then took Muḥammad ﷺ by the hand, brought him forward, and he led in prayer the inhabitants of heaven, among whom were Adam and Noah.
Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī commented, “On that day Allah perfected for Muḥammad ﷺ his rank over all who dwell in the heavens and the earth.”
Al-Bazzār recorded this report in Kashf al-Astār, 352, remarking, “We do not know it to be narrated from ʿAlī with these exact words except through this chain. Ziyād ibn al-Mundhir was a Shīʿī, and Marwān ibn Muʿāwiyah and others transmitted from him.”
I add: In al-Majmaʿ 1/329 it is stated, “There is unanimous agreement on his weakness,” and in al-Taqrīb he is described as “a Rāfiḍī; Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn declared him a liar.”
Accordingly, the ḥadīth is exceedingly weak, and the marks of fabrication upon it are plain.
