the making of images and the construction of buildings over graves. This—and whatever else serves the same purpose—is among the greatest interests of the religion and a safeguard for the Muslims’ creed.
In our time, image-making has become widespread, as has its use: pictures are set up by hanging them, and commemorative photographs are carefully preserved⦗1⦘. Building over graves has likewise multiplied until it has become something familiar. All of this is due to the estrangement of the religion, the obscurity of the sunnahs, the rise of innovations, and the silence of many scholars and their submission to the status quo, so that in most lands the recognised good is now viewed as evil and the evil as good. There is no might and no power except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
Hence it is obligatory to raise awareness and offer sincere counsel for the sake of Allah, His Book, His Prophet, the leaders of the Muslims, and their common folk—especially when those who call to misguidance and promote falsehood are so numerous. Their spurious claims must be exposed, their errors refuted, and the Muslims made aware of their danger so that they can keep clear of them.
May Allah grant the Muslims success to act upon His Book and the sunnah of His Messenger.
