Fourthly: Presenting Examples of Contemporary Innovations
Contemporary innovations are numerous, owing to the lateness of the age, the scarcity of knowledge, the abundance of those who call to innovation and wrongdoing, and the spread of imitation of the disbelievers in the customs and rituals of Muslims—just as he ﷺ said: “You will surely follow the ways of those who came before you.” 1
Here we shall cite three of the most significant contemporary innovations:

1. Celebrating the Prophet’s birthday (mawlid).
2. Seeking blessings from places, relics, the dead, and the like.
3. Innovations in the realm of worship and drawing near to Allah.
