Al-Irshad ila Sahih al-ItiqadSalih Al-Fawzan

as recorded in Sahih Muslim and Sunan al-Tirmidhi from Abu Hurayra, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Rights will surely be restored to their owners on the Day of Resurrection, even to the point that the hornless sheep will take retaliation from the horned one.”

The Reckoning itself is not the same for everyone: some will undergo a difficult reckoning, while others will face an easy one.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “Allah, exalted be He, will call the whole creation to account. He will draw aside with His believing servant in private and make him acknowledge his sins, as this has been described in the Book and the Sunnah. As for the disbelievers, they will not be reckoned in the manner of one whose good and evil deeds are weighed, for they have no good deeds. Rather, their actions will simply be counted and enumerated; they will be confronted with them and compelled to admit them.” End quote.

The very first deed for which a servant is taken to account is his prayer, and the first issue settled between people will be cases of bloodshed. This is affirmed in the hadith related by al-Tirmidhi—who declared it sound—and by Abu Dawud and al-Hakim—who authenticated it—from Abu Hurayra, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The first thing for which the servant will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is the prayer. Allah will say to His angels: ‘Look at My servant’s prayer; is it complete or deficient?’ If it is complete, it will be recorded for him as complete. If it is lacking in any way, Allah will say: ‘See whether My servant has any voluntary prayers.’ If he has voluntary prayers, He will say: ‘Complete My servant’s obligatory prayer with his voluntary prayers.’ Thereafter all the deeds will be dealt with in the same manner.”

Al-Nasa’i likewise transmitted—through Ibn Mas‘ud—that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The first thing for which a servant will be called to account is his prayer.”
