Ever since Adam was made to descend to the earth, Allah has announced the coming Resurrection. He, the Exalted, said, “Descend, all of you, as enemies to one another; and on earth you shall have a dwelling place and enjoyment for a time,” 1 and He also said, “Therein you shall live, therein you shall die, and from it you shall be brought forth.” 2

When the accursed Iblis declared, “My Lord, grant me respite until the Day they are raised up,” Allah replied, “You are indeed of those granted respite until the Day of the appointed time.” 3

Noah, peace be upon him, told his people, “Allah caused you to grow from the earth like a plant; then He will return you to it and will surely bring you out again.” 4

Abraham, peace be upon him, said, “And it is He from Whom I hope that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense.” 5

As for Moses, peace be upon him, Allah said to him, “Surely the Hour is coming—I almost keep it hidden—so that every soul may be repaid for what it strives for. So let not one who does not believe in it and follows his own desire turn you away from it, lest you perish,” 6 and Moses prayed, “Write for us good in this world and in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned to You.” 7

Allah has also informed us that when the disbelievers are flung into the Fire they will admit that their messengers had warned them of this Day, as He says: “Did messengers from among yourselves not come to you, reciting to you the revelations of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?” They will answer, “Yes, but the decree of punishment has become binding upon the disbelievers.” 8 Thus every messenger warned of the very matter with which the Seal of them all concluded—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon them every one.

Moreover, Allah, exalted be He, has declared that the dead will rise from their graves when the Trumpet is blown for the third time: “Then it will be blown again, and suddenly they will be standing, looking on,” 9 and, “The Trumpet will be blown, and at once they will hurry forth from the graves to their Lord.” 10

وقد أخبر الله من حين اهبط آدم بالقيامة؛ فقال تعالى: ﴿وَقُلْنَا اهْبِطُوا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ وَلَكُمْ فِي الأرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَى حِينٍ﴾ ١، وقال: ﴿قَالَ فِيهَا تَحْيَوْنَ وَفِيهَا تَمُوتُونَ وَمِنْهَا تُخْرَجُونَ﴾ ٢. ولما قال إبليس اللعين: ﴿قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ﴾ ٣. ونوح ﵇ قال لقومه: ﴿وَاللَّهُ أَنْبَتَكُمْ مِنَ الأرْضِ نَبَاتاً ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجاً﴾ ٤. وقال إبراهيم ﵇: ﴿والذي أطمع أن يغفر لي خطيئتي يوم الدين﴾ ٥. وموسى ﵇؛ قال الله له: ﴿إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَى فَلا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَنْ لا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَتَرْدَى﴾ ٦، وقال موسى في دعائه: ﴿وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَا إِلَيْكَ﴾ ٧. وقد أخبر الله عن الكفار إذا أدخلوا النار يقرون أن رسلهم أنذرتهم هذا اليوم؛ كما في قوله تعالى: ﴿أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِنْكُمْ يَتْلُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِ رَبِّكُمْ وَيُنْذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا قَالُوا بَلَى وَلَكِنْ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَةُ الْعَذَابِ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ﴾ ٨؛ فجميع الرسل أنذروا بما ختم به خاتمهم عليهم جميعا صلوات الله وسلامه. وقد أخبر الله تعالى أن الموتى يقومون من قبورهم إذا نفخ في الصورالنفخة الثالثة؛ قال تعالى: ﴿ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَى فَإِذَا هُمْ قِيَامٌ يَنْظُرُونَ﴾ ٩، وقال تعالى: ﴿وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُمْ مِنَ الأجْدَاثِ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَنْسِلُونَ﴾ ١٠.
