Al-Irshad ila Sahih al-ItiqadSalih Al-Fawzan

Nor is there any conflict between these verses. Each attribution is made in keeping with the task assigned to the respective agent. Allah is the One who has decreed death and fixed its term; by His decree, determination, and command the taking of the soul is therefore ascribed to Him. The Angel of Death is responsible for seizing the soul and drawing it out of the body, after which it is received from him by the angels of mercy or the angels of punishment, who then assume charge of it. Accordingly, it is perfectly sound to attribute the taking of the soul to each party in accordance with the role he performs.
