“no community ever rules by anything other than what Allah has revealed without their own hostility being unleashed among them.” This is one of the greatest causes for the collapse of states, the outbreak of rebellion, and strife among peoples. For believing in the Book necessarily entails referring to it for judgment; whoever claims faith in the Book while turning elsewhere for judgment is contradicting himself. The Book is not to be fragmented: it must be implemented in its entirety and followed in every field—creed, worship, transactions, personal status, criminal law, prescribed penalties, etiquette, and conduct.
Allah, the Exalted, says: “Whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed—it is they who are the disbelievers” ⦗1⦘; “Whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed—it is they who are the wrongdoers” ⦗2⦘; “Whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed—it is they who are the defiantly disobedient” ⦗3⦘. He also says: “But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you the judge in all that is contentious among them, then find within themselves no discomfort about what you have decided and submit in full submission” ⦗4⦘.
Thus Allah, swearing an oath, has denied faith to anyone who does not appoint the Messenger ﷺ as arbiter in disputes, welcoming his judgment with an open heart and yielding wholly to Allah’s ruling. Likewise, He branded those who fail to judge by what He has revealed as disbelievers, wrongdoers, and defiantly disobedient, whereas true faith, rectitude, and justice lie in adhering to His Book. Woe, then, to a people who have traded Allah’s Book for man-made ṭāghūt statutes while still claiming to believe. There is no power and no might except with Allah, the Most High, the Almighty.
