such as His words, “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet” ⦗1⦘; His words, “All have believed in Allah and His angels” ⦗2⦘; His words, “Whoever disbelieves in Allah and His angels” ⦗3⦘; and His words, “Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels” ⦗4⦘.
He, exalted is He, also joins their testimony to His own testimony and their prayer to His own prayer, as in His saying, “Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, and so do the angels” ⦗5⦘, and His saying, “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet” ⦗6⦘.
He describes them with generosity and honour: “[This Qur’an is] in the hands of scribes, noble and righteous” ⦗7⦘; “Surely, [appointed] over you are guardians, noble recorders” ⦗8⦘; and “Rather, they are honoured servants” ⦗9⦘.
He depicts them as lofty and near to Him: “They cannot eavesdrop on the Highest Assembly” ⦗10⦘, and “It is witnessed by those brought near” ⦗11⦘.
He mentions their bearing of the Throne and their encircling it: “Those who bear the Throne and those around it” ⦗12⦘, and “You will see the angels surrounding the Throne” ⦗13⦘.
He, glorified be He, states that they are with Him, worshipping and glorifying Him: “Indeed, those who are near your Lord are not too proud to worship Him; they glorify Him and prostrate to Him” ⦗14⦘, and “But if they grow arrogant, those who are near your Lord glorify Him night and day and never grow weary” ⦗15⦘.
With respect to the tasks they perform, the angels are of different kinds. Among them are the bearers of the Throne, for He says, “Those who bear the Throne and those around it” ⦗16⦘, and He says, “On that Day, eight will bear the Throne of your Lord above them” ⦗17⦘.
