Allah, loves what Allah and His Messenger love, detests what Allah and His Messenger detest, shows loyalty to the allies of Allah, and takes a stand against the enemies of Allah—such a person has perfected faith …” End of his words, may Allah have mercy on him.
I say: Among the slaves of money today are those who plunge into unlawful transactions and foul earnings out of sheer materialism—such as those who deal in ribā (usury) with banks and others, those who obtain money through bribery, gambling, fraud in business dealings, or shamelessness in lawsuits. They know full well that these profits are forbidden, yet their love of money has blinded them and turned them into its servants; they will chase it by any means whatsoever.
We ask Allah to grant safety to us and to our fellow Muslims from greed that is obeyed, desire that is followed, and each person’s admiration of his own opinion.
- Reviling Time and the Like
Among the practices that some people commit out of habit—yet which also diminish pure monotheism and corrupt belief—is cursing time, cursing the wind, and similar forms of attributing blame to created things for matters over which they have no control. In reality, such blame is directed at Allah, exalted is He, for He alone is the Creator and Disposer of affairs.

They thus denied the resurrection, saying, “It is only our worldly life”—the life we are now living; there is no other life. “We die and we live,” meaning that some people pass away while others come into being. By this statement they rejected the existence of the Creator who controls all matters and attributed the course of events to mere nature.
