Al-Irshad ila Sahih al-ItiqadSalih Al-Fawzan

—and it also contains a plea for guidance to the path of the people of monotheism: “not of those who have incurred wrath nor of those who are astray,” namely, those who abandoned tawḥīd.

He further said: “Most sūrahs of the Qur’an encompass the two types of tawḥīd. The Qur’an is either information about Allah, His Names, and His Attributes—this is the tawḥīd of knowledge and affirmation; or it is a summons to worship Him alone, without partner, and to renounce whatever is worshipped besides Him—this is the tawḥīd of will and intent; or it consists of commands, prohibitions, and obligations to obey Him—these constitute the rights and perfections of tawḥīd; or it reports how He honors the people of tawḥīd, what He has done for them in this world, and what He will grant them in the Hereafter—this is the reward of tawḥīd; or it relates the state of the polytheists, what He inflicted upon them in this world by way of punishment and will inflict upon them in the Hereafter by way of torment—this is the recompense for those who depart from the rule of tawḥīd….” End quote.

Despite the Qur’an’s profound focus on the Islamic creed, most of those who recite it do not grasp that creed correctly. They end up mixing matters and falling into error because they merely follow what they found their forefathers doing and do not read the Qur’an with reflection. There is no power nor might except with Allah.
