—most of which are nothing more than sunnah practices and recommended deeds, far removed from being obligatory duties, and even further from constituting binding conditions?
The fact of the matter is that the Friday prayer is a compulsory act ordained by Allah, a manifest symbol of Islam, and simply one of the prescribed prayers. Whoever claims that it must meet requirements not demanded of the other prayers will not be heeded unless he produces clear evidence.
Accordingly, if there are only two men in a given place, one of them may stand and deliver the sermon while the other listens; then they both rise and pray, and they have thereby performed1 the Friday prayer.
In sum, every locale is suitable for fulfilling this obligation2 as long as at least two Muslim men reside there, just like the other prayers.
