The Supreme Imam
- The presence of the supreme imam—the caliph—is not a prerequisite for the Friday prayer. Were one to argue that the mere fact the Prophet ﷺ himself, or someone deputed by him, established it proves that the supreme imam is a condition, it would follow that he is a condition for every other prayer as well, for in his lifetime no prayer was held except under his leadership or that of someone he appointed. The consequent is invalid, so the premise is likewise invalid.
