Now that the foregoing has been clarified, let us proceed to the response and say:
the second additional wording is traced to Ibn al-Jarud and al-Bayhaqi; the third to Abu Dawud and al-Tabarani; the fourth to Abd ibn Humayd, Ibn al-Mundhir, and Ibn Mardawayh, and it is cited by al-Ayni in al-Umda 3/233 without an explicit chain; the fifth to Ibn Majah and Ibn Khuzaymah, with an extra clause recorded by al-Tabarani; the sixth is al-Tabarani’s; and the seventh, the final one, to Abd ibn Humayd, Ibn al-Mundhir, and Ibn Mardawayh.
As for the second recension, which states “with the first adhan,” it is related by Ahmad and Ibn Khuzaymah, while the third is reported by al-Bukhari and al-Shafi‘i. See also Fath al-Bari, Talkhis al-Habir, Nasb al-Raya, and al-Durr al-Manthur.
