Among the further benefits of this arrangement is that, should the electricity fail, the muezzin can still deliver the adhān and convey it to the people from the rooftop, as is perfectly clear.
We must also remind the believers to uphold the Sunnah of turning right and left during the two ḥayʿalah phrases—“Come to prayer” and “Come to success.” They have almost unanimously abandoned this practice because they feel obliged to keep facing the microphone. Therefore, we suggest installing two microphones, one slightly to the right and the other to the left, so that the Sunnah is observed while the call is transmitted in full.
Nor should it be said that the sole purpose of turning is audibility, and that the practice is therefore unnecessary once loud-speakers are in place. There is no proof for such a claim; the turning may well serve other objectives that remain unknown to us. It is better, then, to preserve this Sunnah in every situation.
