Before addressing the replies, I consider it useful—indeed necessary—to present here the hadith concerning ʿUthmān’s first call to prayer, for it will serve as the central focus of the upcoming issues, as you will see. Furthermore, because the narration in question contains additional phrases that may be absent from some transmitters’ versions, I have deemed it beneficial to insert every extra wording I have located, enclosing it within square brackets [ ], and then to identify who recorded the hadith, those additional phrases, and the leading scholars who commented on it. Here is the text:
