Adab al-Zifaf fi al-Sunnah al-MutahharahNasir al-Din al-Albani

I removed it. [1]

Third: The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Day…"

(1) Reported by al-Bukhari 9/204 and 10/319-320; Muslim 61/160; al-Tayalisi, Musnad 1/358-359; Abu Bakr al-Shafi‘i, al-Fawaid 61/2 and 67-68; al-Bayhaqi 7/267; and al-Baghawi 3/23/2. He (al-Baghawi) comments: “This hadith proves that anyone invited to a wedding feast (walima) where censurable acts or musical entertainment are taking place must decline—unless he is the sort of person whose presence and censure would make those acts cease or be removed.” I (the author) say: The outward sense of this hadith contradicts the hadith of Aisha cited below under Issue 38, for that report shows that the Prophet ﷺ made use of a curtain bearing images after it had been cut and turned into two cushions, whereas the present hadith shows that he disapproved of such images. Al-Hafiz (Ibn Hajar) in Fath al-Bari 10/320 records several scholarly attempts to reconcile the two texts and then offers another explanation of his own: when Aisha cut the curtain, the cut passed through the middle of the image so that it lost its original form; only then did he use it as cushions. He adds: “This reconciliation is supported by the hadith in the preceding chapter on obliterating images and by what will be related in the hadith of Abu Hurayra.” And Allah knows best. I further say: This reconciliation is indispensable because the final addition is explicit.
