  1. The obligation to have a bath within the home:

Both husband and wife are required to install a bath in their own house, and she must not be allowed to enter a public bathhouse, for that is prohibited. Several hadiths speak to this:

First: Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,

“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not let his wife enter a public bathhouse; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not enter a bathhouse unless he is covered with a waist-wrapper; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit at a table where wine is being circulated.” 2

(2) Reported by al-Hakim, 4/288—this is his wording; also by al-Tirmidhi and, in part, by al-Nasai; likewise by Ahmad, 3/339, and by al-Jurjani, p. 150, through several chains of transmission =
