and also by al-Mahamili in al-Amali, no. 21 (my copy), on the authority of Maqil b. Yasar; al-Hakim, 2/162, graded it sahih and al-Dhahabi concurred. It is likewise found in Ahmad, 3/158; in the Musnad of Sa id b. Mansur; in al-Tabarani’s al-Awsat (Zawa id, 1/162); and in al-Bayhaqi, 7/81, from a narration of Anas. Ibn Hibban, no. 1228, declared it authentic, while al-Haythami, 4/258, said: “Its isnad is hasan.” I have, however, raised reservations about it in Irwa al-Ghalil, no. 1811, and its wording was quoted above on p. 16. It is further transmitted by Abu Muhammad b. Ma ruf in his Juzʾ, 2/131, and by al-Khatib in Tarikh Baghdad, 12/377, through Ibn ʿUmar; al-Suyuti, al-Jamiʿ al-Kabir, 1/351/3, judged its chain good.
