- One of the Prophet’s wives reported: “Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted something from a menstruating woman, he would place a cloth over her private area and then do as he wished.” 1
(1) Abu Dawud reports it as hadith no. 262 in his Sunan; the wording cited is his. The chain satisfies Muslim’s criteria. Ibn Abd al-Hadi declared it sahih, while Ibn Hajar and al-Bayhaqi (1/314) considered it strong; the additional phrase is from al-Bayhaqi.
الثالث: عن بعض أزواج النبي ﷺ قالت: إن النبي ﷺ:
كان إذا أراد من الحائض شيئا ألقى على فرجها ثوبا [ثم صنع ما أراد] "١.
