I asked ʿĀʾishah, “How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ deal with a state of major ritual impurity? Would he bathe before going to sleep, or would he sleep before bathing?” She replied, “He did both: sometimes he would bathe and then sleep, and sometimes he would perform ablution and then sleep.” I said, “All praise is due to Allah, Who has granted latitude in this matter.” 1
