the sixth of the Mukhlisiyyāt 66/1, and by Ibn Saʿd 1/366. He also recorded it in al-Shamāʾil 2/185 through another path from her with the wording:
“He was a human being like any other: he would pick the lice from his cloak, milk his own sheep, and serve himself.”
Its transmitters are those found in the Ṣaḥīḥ collection, though some of them are weak.1 Yet Aḥmad and Abū Bakr al-Shāfiʿī transmitted it with a strong chain, as I have shown in Silsilat al-Aḥādīth al-Ṣaḥīḥah, no. 670. Allah alone grants success.
(1) I observe that for this reason the annotator of Sharh al-Sunnah, 13/243, no. 3676, declared the report weak, although he failed to notice the stronger chain that will be cited shortly. If you wish, consult my Mukhtasar al-Shama’il, no. 293.
