I began this treatise with praise to the Lord of all worlds and concluded it by drawing attention to matters that concern every husband—issues with which many wives have been tested.

I ask Allah, the Exalted, to make it beneficial and to grant that it be offered solely for His Noble Face; He alone is the Most Kind, the Most Merciful.

Be aware that the etiquettes of the wedding night are many. In this brief work I will mention only those that are unequivocally established in the Prophetic Sunnah—texts whose chains are sound and whose wording is beyond dispute—so that whoever practices them does so with clear insight into his religion and full confidence in his conduct. I pray that Allah will seal his life with happiness as a reward for beginning his married life in accordance with the Sunnah, and that He will include him among His servants who say, “Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and our offspring a comfort to our eyes, and make us leaders for the righteous” (al-Furqan 25:74).

The good end belongs to the God-fearing, as the Lord of all worlds says: “Indeed, the righteous will be amid shade and springs, and fruits of their own choosing. ‘Eat and drink with healthy enjoyment for what you used to do.’ Thus do We recompense those who excel” (al-Mursalat 77:41-44).
