a) Tampering with the creation of Allah. The Almighty says concerning Satan:

“Allah has cursed him, and he said, ‘I will surely take for myself a fixed share of Your servants; I will surely lead them astray; I will surely fill them with vain desires; I will surely command them, and they will slit the ears of cattle; and I will surely command them, and they will alter the creation of Allah. Whoever takes Satan for a patron instead of Allah has incurred a manifest loss.’”

This verse is an explicit proof that altering the creation of Allah without His permission amounts to obeying Satan and defying the Most Merciful. For that reason the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed those women who alter Allah’s creation for the sake of beautification, as was cited earlier—and the beard most certainly falls under that condemnation, for it shares the very same effective cause. I have said “without the permission of Allah” so that no one imagines that such alteration includes matters like shaving the pubic hair and the like—acts the Lawgiver has either permitted, recommended, or even made obligatory.

b) Disobeying the Prophet’s command, for he said:
