imitate Allah’s act of creation.” In another narration he said, “The makers of these images will be punished, and it will be said to them, ‘Bring to life what you have fashioned!’” He then added, “Angels do not enter a house that contains images.” ʿĀʾishah said, “So we cut it up and turned it into one or two cushions—and I later saw him reclining on one of them, which still had an image on it.” ⦗1⦘

I note two benefits derived from this hadith:
1. It is prohibited to hang up pictures or any article containing an image.
2. It is likewise prohibited to produce such images, whether they are three-dimensional or flat—i.e., whether they cast a shadow or not. This is the majority view. Al-Nawawi states: “Some of the early scholars held that only figures with a shadow are forbidden, while shadowless images may be kept without restriction. This opinion is invalid, for the curtain the Prophet ﷺ condemned contained images without a shadow, yet he still ordered it removed.”
يضاهون بخلق الله" وفي رواية: "إن أصحاب هذه الصور يعذبون" ويقال لهم: "أحيوا ما خلقتم" ثم قال: "إن البيت الذي فيه الصور لا تدخله الملائكة" قالت: عائشة: فقطعناه فجعلنا منه وسادة أو وسادتين [فقد رأيته متكئا على إحداهما وفيها صورة] ١.

قلت: وفي هذا الحديث فائدتان:
الأولى: تحريم تعليق الصور أو مافيه صورة.
والثانية: تحريم تصويرها سواء كانت مجسمة أو غير مجسمة وبعبارة أخرى: لها ظل أو لا ظل لها وهذا مذهب الجمهور قال النووي:
"وذهب بعض السلف إلى أن الممنوع ماكان له ظل وما لا ظل له فلا بأس باتخاذه مطلقا وهو مذهب باطل فإن الستر الذي أنكره النبي ﷺ كانت الصورة فيه بلا ظل ومع ذلك أمر بنزعه".
