I realized that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was fully satisfied and that his supplication had reached me. I burst into laughter so hard that I dropped to the ground. He asked, “What is the matter?” and I told him what had happened. He said, “This is a blessing that has come down from heaven. Why did you not inform me so that we could give some to our two companions?” I replied, “By the One Who sent you with the truth, once the blessing touched you and me, I cared little whom it missed.¹
Second: It is related from Anas—or someone else—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit the Anṣār. Whenever he came to their houses, the children of the Anṣār would gather around him; he would pray for them, wipe their heads, and greet them with peace. He reached the door of Saʿd ibn ʿUbādah and sought permission to enter, saying, “Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.” Saʿd answered, “And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah,” but the Prophet did not hear him. The Prophet ﷺ offered the greeting three times, and Saʿd replied three times, yet the Prophet still did not hear him—nor would the Prophet ﷺ exceed three greetings; if permission was granted, he would enter.
