Chapter: Disclaiming Liability for Defects
It is not permissible to sell any edible or potable goods—or, indeed, any other kind of merchandise—under a blanket disclaimer, except in the specific case of slaves. Whoever sells anything other than slaves while invoking such a disclaimer is released only from those defects that he has precisely identified, named, and shown to the purchaser, allowing the buyer to examine them. If, however, the seller of a slave disclaims all defects to the buyer and concludes the sale on that basis, he is not absolved of liability for any defect he knowingly concealed, although he is cleared of responsibility for a defect
