though his prayer remains valid, yet what an objectionable thing he has done.
It is permissible for one man to give the adhan and for another to give the iqamah; if the mu’adhdhin himself performs the iqamah, so much the better. No one should call the adhan in any mosque for any prayer unless he is well-versed in the prayer times.
Women are not obliged to pronounce either the adhan or the iqamah, and if a woman does give the iqamah she should not raise her voice. Whoever arrives after the congregation has finished the prayer should give the iqamah only and omit the adhan. A person who forgets the iqamah is not at fault, and one who leaves it out deliberately does not invalidate his prayer, though he has done wrong by abandoning an emphatically recommended sunnah of the prayer and should seek Allah’s forgiveness.
