—namely, insisting on the very finest grade or on the absolute limit of any given attribute—because no created object can ever attain a definitive pinnacle; at any moment God may have brought into existence something whose qualities surpass it in one respect or another. God knows best.

The buyer in a salam contract is therefore not obliged to take possession of the goods before their term, whether they are located where the contract was concluded or elsewhere, and whether or not their collection entails transport costs. This ruling differs from that of a loan.

Likewise, if a man is owed gold or silver—whether as the price of a sale or as a loan—and the debtor brings the amount to him before its due date, he must accept it.
