Likewise, if he remembers before starting the prayer, he need only wash the limb he had omitted. Whoever deliberately leaves out such an act must start the ablution over again and repeat the prayer. Whenever water fails to reach every part of a limb that must be washed, the ablution is invalid, for in that case he would be wiping what he has been commanded to wash. Complete coverage—isbāgh (bringing water over the limb until it is wholly washed while passing the hand across it)—is obligatory, and in this regard women and men are exactly the same.
