Camel herdsmen who have stoned Jamrat al-ʿAqabah on the Day of Sacrifice are permitted to leave Minā to graze their animals. They may stay away for one full day and night, then return on the third day after the Sacrifice—the first day of departure (al-nafr al-awwal)—where they stone for the missed day as well as for the day at hand. After that, they may hasten back if they wish, or remain; should they remain, they must stone again on the fourth day after the Sacrifice.
Pilgrims from distant lands may likewise hasten their departure on the third day after the Sacrifice. This is the second of the Days of Tashrīq; they cast their stones after the sun has passed its zenith and set out during daylight, but they should not depart at night.
For the people of Mecca it is disliked to leave during the first dispersal, and the preferred course for the pilgrimage leader is to stay until the second dispersal; it is reprehensible for him to depart before that.
