of Allah Most High: “He has not placed any hardship upon you in the religion.” Ibn ʿAbbās and al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī said that this refers to bringing the sighting of the crescent forward or delaying it in matters of breaking the fast, the Festival of Sacrifice, and fasting itself.
