Chapter on Ifrād, Tamattuʿ, and Qirān

Entering the state of ihram for Hajj may take one of three equally lawful forms:

1. Ifrād al-Hajj—consecrating oneself exclusively for Hajj.
2. Tamattuʿ—performing ʿUmrah first, then remaining released from ihram until assuming it again for Hajj.
3. Qirān—combining ʿUmrah and Hajj under a single ihram.
