Chapter: The Miqat Stations for Hajj and Their Rulings
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fixed Dhu’l-Hulayfa as the miqat for the people of Madinah; it is therefore their miqat and the miqat of anyone who passes by it intending the pilgrimage to the Sacred House.
For the people of Syria, Egypt, and the Maghrib the miqat is al-Juhfa when they travel by the coastal route; otherwise, if they come through Dhu’l-Hulayfa, that becomes their miqat.
The miqat for the people of Yemen is Yalamlam, and for the people of Najd it is Qarn. ʿUmar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) appointed Dhat ʿIrq as the miqat for the people of Iraq.
It has also been reported that the Prophet ﷺ himself designated this station, so the miqat for the people of Iraq, Persia, and all lands beyond them—including Khurasan—is Dhat ʿIrq. If they assume ihram from al-ʿAqiq, it is acceptable. Whoever enters ihram at al-Juhfa may do so anywhere within the entire valley, though it is recommended to begin at the head of the valley.
