Al-KāfīIbn Abd al-Barr

of Madinah, both early and later generations, hold that one should prostrate at the second verse of al-Ḥajj, and in al-Sajdah, al-Najm, ‘When the sky is split open’ (al-Inshiqāq), and ‘Read in the name of your Lord’ (al-ʿAlaq), bringing the grand total to fifteen prostrations.

Ibn Wahb related this opinion from Malik, yet the distilled ruling of Malik’s school, as transmitted by his foremost students, is that the recognized number is eleven prostrations, none of which occur in the Mufaṣṣal section of the Quran. Allah is the One who guides to what is right.
