Al-KāfīIbn Abd al-Barr

The molars are treated like all other teeth. If a tooth is struck and turns red or yellow, the due indemnity is 50 dinars, with no qiṣāṣ. Should it be struck again after reddening and turn black, the compensation is likewise 50 dinars; and if a subsequent blow knocks it out altogether, the amount remains the same.

A group of the scholars of Medina hold that, so long as the tooth has not fallen out, only a discretionary appraisal (ḥukūmah) is awarded.

Whoever pulls out a child’s tooth and it fails to grow back must pay 50 dinars, just as for an adult tooth that will not regenerate. In the case of the child, however, the judge waits to see whether a new tooth will appear, whereas no waiting period is observed for an adult.
