Chapter on the prayer of the sick person, the intoxicated, the one who regains consciousness after fainting, and the menstruating woman once she becomes pure.
It is impermissible for anyone to offer an obligatory prayer sitting down when he is able to stand. Whoever is unable to stand prays seated, cross-legged, bowing and prostrating to the extent of his strength. If he lacks even that ability, he gestures with his head, making the gesture for prostration lower than the one for bowing. He should bend his leg when gesturing for the prostration, and, if possible, sit for the tashahhud in the same manner as a healthy worshipper; his sitting between the two prostrations should likewise mirror that of the able-bodied.
Whatever movements he cannot perform are waived; he does whatever he can and is not required to repeat the prayer. Should he be unable to sit at all, he prays while lying down with his feet toward the qiblah and his face in that same direction, or on his right side, gesturing for the entire prayer.
