Al-KāfīIbn Abd al-Barr

—anything that entails a corporal punishment, whether theft, homicide, drinking wine, or fornication—renders him liable to the prescribed ḥadd in every case, whether his master denies the confession or affirms it. By contrast, any admission he makes concerning offenses against property—such as wrongful appropriation, outstanding debts, or anything else that would impose an indemnity on his person or a financial liability—counts for nothing unless his master corroborates it.
