164- The compiler transmitted with his chain from ʿAmr ibn Wahb: “I heard Shaddād ibn Ḥakīm relate from Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan concerning the ḥadīths that state ‘Allah descends to the lowest heaven’ and the like, that these reports have been narrated by trustworthy transmitters. We therefore narrate them, believe in them, and do not interpret them.”
144- I remark: al-Lālikāʾī recorded it in al-Sunnah ⦗98/1⦘, and by his route the author has cited it with his own isnād. If ʿAmr ibn Wahb is al-Ṭāʾifī, his status is unknown; if he is al-Qurashī, Ibn Abī Ḥātim ⦗3/1/266⦘ reports from his father: “His ḥadīth is confused.”
165- Abū al-Qāsim Hibat Allāh al-Lālikāʾī, Shaykh Muwaffaq al-Dīn al-Maqdisī, and others transmitted with their isnād from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ḥanīfah al-Dabūsī, who said: I heard Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan declare:
“All the jurists, from East to West, are unanimously agreed on affirming the Qur’an and the ḥadīths reliably conveyed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the attributes of the Lord—without explanation¹, description, or likening. Whoever explains any part of that has departed from what the Prophet ﷺ was upon and has left the community, for they neither denied nor interpreted; rather, they believed in what is in the Book and the Sunnah and then remained silent. Whoever adopts Jahm’s doctrine has abandoned the community², for he has described Him with a description of non-existence.”
27- Bukayr ibn Jaʿfar al-Sulamī, one of the scholars of Jurjān
166- Abū Aḥmad ibn ʿAdī said, “I hope there is nothing objectionable about him,” and then narrated with his chain from Ibrāhīm ibn Mūsā: “I was with Bukayr ibn Jaʿfar when a man came and said, ‘Allah is on His Throne—how is that?’ Bukayr said, ‘Drag him³ by his foot,’ so they dragged him.”
