Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

“They ask you what has been made lawful for them. Say, ‘Lawful for you are all good things and game caught by the hunting animals you have trained,’”

through to His words:

“Today all good things have been made lawful for you.”

Thus, He made good things lawful on the day He perfected the religion. He perfected its prohibitions and permissions because they had perfected their compliance with it.

He also says:

“No blame rests upon those who believe and do righteous deeds…”

This verse clearly shows that righteous conduct, piety, and excellence in doing good are grounds for removing blame. A believer who does righteous deeds and excels in goodness incurs neither blame nor sin for what he consumes, for it provides him with help and strength to believe, do righteous deeds, and excel in goodness. Others remain subject to blame and sin, because Allah created blessings only so that they might be used to help people obey Him. This verse was revealed in Medina and is among the last passages of the Quran to be revealed.

Allah Most High also relates that Abraham said:

“And provide its people with fruits—those among them who believe in Allah and the Last Day.”

He also says:

“Say, ‘Who has forbidden the adornment Allah has brought forth for His servants, and the good things He has provided?’ Say, ‘They are for those who believe during the life of this world, and exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection.’”

He also says:

“If only the people of the towns had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened for them blessings from heaven and earth.”

He also says:

“If only the People of the Scripture had believed and feared Allah, We would have absolved them of their misdeeds and admitted them into Gardens of Bliss.”

“If only they had upheld the Torah, the Gospel, and what was revealed to them from their Lord, they would have received sustenance from above them and from beneath their feet.”
