Abraham, the close friend of Allah:
“Why do you worship what neither hears nor sees, nor benefits you in any way?”
He also said in the account of Abraham:
“So ask them, if they can speak.”
The Most High also said concerning him:
“Do they hear you when you call, or benefit you or harm you? They said, ‘Rather, we found our fathers doing the same.’ He said, ‘Have you considered what you have been worshipping—you and your forefathers? They are enemies to me, except the Lord of all worlds.’”
Likewise, in the account of Moses and the calf:
“Did they not see that it neither spoke to them nor guided them to any way? They took it for worship and were wrongdoers.”
The Most High said:
“Allah sets forth a comparison between two men: one is mute, unable to do anything, and a burden to his master. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice and follows a straight path?”
Thus He contrasted the mute, powerless man with the one who commands justice and follows a straight path.
