In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

The shaykh, imam, and scholar Taqī al-Dīn Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah, foremost among scholars qualified for independent legal reasoning—may Allah sanctify his soul and illuminate his grave—said:

All praise belongs to Allah. We praise Him, seek His help, guidance, and forgiveness, and seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from our evil deeds. Whomever Allah guides, none can lead astray; and whomever He leads astray, none can guide. We bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partner, and we bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Section

On the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, having explained the religion in its entirety—its foundations and branches, its inward and outward aspects, its knowledge and practice. For this principle is the foundation of

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ الْإِمَامُ الْعَالِمُ تَقِيُّ الدِّينِ أَوْحَدُ الْمُجْتَهِدِينَ أَحْمَد ابْنُ تَيْمِيَّة - قَدَّسَ اللَّهُ رُوحَهُ وَنَوَّرَ ضَرِيحَهُ -: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ؛ وَنَسْتَهْدِيه وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَنَعُوذُ بِاَللَّهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا مَنْ يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ؛ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيمًا. فَصْلٌ: فِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيَّنَ جَمِيعَ الدِّينِ أُصُولَهُ وَفُرُوعَهُ؛ بَاطِنَهُ وَظَاهِرَهُ عِلْمَهُ وَعَمَلَهُ فَإِنَّ هَذَا الْأَصْلَ هُوَ أَصْلُ
