Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

Allah Most High also said:

“Whenever a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, ‘Did no warner come to you?’”

“They will say, ‘Yes, a warner did come to us, but we denied him and said, “Allah has sent down nothing. You are only in great error.”’”

Allah Most High also said:

“Those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates will be opened and its keepers will say to them, ‘Did messengers from among yourselves not come to you, reciting your Lord’s signs to you and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?’ They will say, ‘Yes, but the decree of punishment has come into effect against the disbelievers.’”

Allah Most High also said:

“None dispute Allah’s signs except those who disbelieve, so do not be deceived by their movement throughout the lands.”

Further on, He says:

“Those who dispute Allah’s signs without any authority having come to them—such disputing is greatly hateful to Allah and to those who believe. Thus does Allah seal every heart of an arrogant tyrant.”

Further on, He says:

“We will surely support Our messengers and those who believe, both in the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses stand forth.”

Further on, He says:

“We certainly gave Moses guidance and caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture,”

“as guidance and a reminder for people of understanding.”

“So be patient; indeed, Allah’s promise is true. Ask forgiveness for your sin, and glorify your Lord with praise in the evening and the morning.”

“Indeed, those who dispute Allah’s signs without any authority having come to them have nothing in their hearts but a desire for greatness that they will never attain. So seek refuge in Allah. He alone is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.”

His words, “dispute Allah’s signs without any authority having come to them,” make clear that it is not permissible to counter the Book of Allah with anything other than the Book of Allah—not with anyone’s actions or commands, nor with state authority or political policy. For that is the condition of those who dispute Allah’s signs without
