He replied:
“Praise be to Allah. This is a lie. They have also related it about ‘Umar, but that too is a lie.”
Among the reports they relate about ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, is that he killed his father.
He replied:
“This is a lie. ‘Umar’s father died in the pre-Islamic era, before the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, was sent.”
Among the reports they attribute to him, peace and blessings be upon him, is:
“I was a prophet when Adam was between water and clay, and I was a prophet when Adam was neither water nor clay.”
He replied:
“Praise be to Allah. This wording is false and baseless. Rather, the transmitted wording, related by al-Tirmidhī and others, is that he was asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah, when were you a prophet?’ He replied: ‘When Adam was between spirit and body.’ In the Sunan, it is narrated from al-‘Irbād ibn Sāriyah that he said: ‘I was indeed recorded with Allah as the Seal of the Prophets while Adam still lay in his clay.’”
Among the reports they also relate is:
“The unmarried man’s bed is made of fire. Pitiable is a man without a wife, and pitiable is a woman without a husband.”
He replied:
“Praise be to Allah. These are not the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. I have not found this narrated, nor has it been established as authentic.”
Among the reports they relate is:
“When Abraham, peace be upon him, built the House, he prayed a thousand units of prayer at each corner. Allah Most High then revealed to him: ‘O Abraham, better than this is relieving someone’s hunger or covering someone’s nakedness.’”
He replied:
“Praise be to Allah. This is an obvious lie. It is not found in any of the books of the Muslims.”
Among the reports they attribute to him, peace and blessings be upon him, is that he said:
“When Abraham and I are mentioned, invoke blessings upon him, then invoke blessings upon me. When I and the other prophets besides him are mentioned, invoke blessings upon me, then invoke blessings upon them.”
He replied:
“Praise be to Allah. This is not known in the books of the scholars, nor is it known from any scholar recognized for his knowledge of hadith.”
