and that al-Miqdād was sent to a king called al-Malik al-Khattār. On his way, he met a queen named Rawdah and married her. He then went to the king to whom he had been sent, fought him, took him captive and came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Būlus ibn ‘Abd al-Salīb fought in the expedition of Tabūk.

And that he fought at the Battle of the Confederates, when they numbered thousands. The Confederates broke before ‘Alī into seventeen divisions, behind each of which stood a man striking with a sword and saying, “I am ‘Alī—his ally.” He struck ‘Amr ibn al-‘Āmirī and severed his thigh. ‘Amr took his thigh and struck the Muslims with it, then uprooted a tree and killed a number of them with it. At that, the angels cried out, saying:

“There is no sword but Dhū al-Fiqār,
and no valiant warrior but ‘Alī.”

And that ‘Alī fought the jinn in the well and was launched by catapult towards the fortress of al-Ghurāb. His flight fell short, so he walked through the air. And that he struck Marhab the Jew, who had a marble basin on his head, splitting both him and his horse in two. And that the army crossed over his forearm to Khaybar, and he demolished the fortress. And that Dhū al-Fiqār was sent down to him from heaven, for Allah named him from heaven and said, “‘Alī is swifter than haste.”

And that he was sent secretly with every prophet, but openly with the Prophet; that he was Moses’ staff, Noah’s ark and Solomon’s ring; and that he drank from the Prophet’s navel, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when he died, and weighed the knowledge of the first and the last.

And that the Angel of Death came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the guise of a Bedouin
