and exposed the false reports attributed to him that they know to be lies. Many fabricated reports are recognized as such only by specialists in hadith. As for reports such as those found in Tanaqqulāt al-Anwār, anyone with even the slightest knowledge of the Messenger’s life and military campaigns knows that they are false.
The authorities must punish anyone who narrates these reports or assists in doing so in any way. The ruler may burn these books, for ‘Uthmān, may Allah be pleased with him, burned books, and these are more deserving of being burned than those were. And Allah knows best.
وَبَيَانِ مَا نُقِلَ عَنْهُ مِنْ الْكَذِبِ الَّذِي يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ كَذِبٌ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْ الْمَوْضُوعَاتِ إنَّمَا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهَا مَوْضُوعَةٌ خَوَاصُّ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ بِالْأَحَادِيثِ وَأَمَّا مِثْلُ مَا فِي
" تَنَقُّلَاتِ الْأَنْوَارِ "
مِنْ الْأَحَادِيثِ فَهُوَ مِمَّا يَعْلَمُهُ مَنْ لَهُ أَدْنَى عِلْمٍ بِأَحْوَالِ الرَّسُولِ وَمَغَازِيهِ أَنَّهُ كَذِبٌ. وَعَلَى وُلَاةِ الْأُمُورِ عُقُوبَةُ مَنْ يَرْوِي هَذِهِ أَوْ يُعِينُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ بِنَوْعِ مِنْ أَنْوَاعِ الْإِعَانَةِ وَلِوَلِيِّ الْأَمْرِ أَنْ يُحْرِقَهَا فَقَدْ حَرَقَ عُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُتُبًا هَذِهِ أَوْلَى بِالتَّحْرِيقِ مِنْهَا وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
