Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

“And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith—We will join their descendants with them, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds,”

according to one of the two interpretations of this verse. This guidance is the reward for following guidance in this world, just as going astray in the Hereafter is the recompense for going astray in this world. Likewise, pursuing evil in this world is recompensed by being guided to the path of the Fire, as Allah Most High says:

“Gather those who committed wrongdoing, their counterparts, and whatever they used to worship
besides Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire.”

He also says:

“Whoever is blind in this world will be blind in the Hereafter and even further astray.”

And He says:

“When guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray nor suffer misery.
But whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a life of hardship, and We will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection.
He will say, ‘My Lord, why have You raised me blind when I used to see?’
He will say, ‘Thus did Our signs come to you, but you forgot them; and thus today you will be forgotten.’”

And He says:

“Whoever Allah guides is rightly guided, but those He sends astray—you will never find protectors for them besides Him. We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection on their faces, blind, mute, and deaf,”

to the end of the verse. He thus tells us that those who go astray in this world will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection blind, mute, and deaf. Recompense always corresponds to the deed, as the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“The All-Merciful shows mercy to those who are merciful. Show mercy to those on earth, and the One in heaven will show mercy to you.”

He also said:

“Whoever follows a path seeking knowledge, Allah will thereby make a path to Paradise easy for him. Whoever makes things easier for someone in hardship, Allah will make things easier for him in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever conceals a Muslim’s faults, Allah will conceal his faults in this world
