Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

and My majesty, I have created nothing nobler than you. Through you I take, and through you I give.’”

This hadith is false and fabricated, by the unanimous agreement of hadith scholars.

As for what they relate:

“Love of this world is the root of every sin,”

this is known from Jundub ibn Abd Allāh al-Bajalī. As a report from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, however, it has no known chain of transmission.

As for what they relate:

“This world is but one step for a believer,”

this is not known from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, nor from anyone else among the early generations of the Muslim community or its leading scholars.

As for what they relate:

“Whoever is granted blessing in something should hold fast to it; whoever binds himself to something is bound by it,”

the first statement is reported from some of the early Muslims. The second is false, for someone who binds himself to something may or may not be bound by it, depending on what Allah and His Messenger command.

As for what they relate from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace:

“Do favors for the poor, for tomorrow they will have their day—and what a day it will be!”

“Poverty is my pride, and in it I take pride,”

both are lies, and neither is known in any of the Muslims’ recognized books.

As for what they relate from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace:

“I am the city of knowledge, and Alī is its gate,”

this hadith is weak—indeed, fabricated—according to hadith scholars.
